BIOGRAPHY

Steve Halfnights is a performing/recording artist and song writer who has been active on the Vancouver music scene for the past 25 years.  Throughout that time, he has performed as both a guitarist and bassist in the original music acts Uncle Nestor and Shakamoraine.  Both bands played regularly around town, including high-profile venues such as The Roxy, The Town Pump, and Studebakers.  Along the way, he was a part of recording three full-length albums with those bands.  Recently, one of Steve’s original songs, Mercedes Bends, was chosen to be in the film Blackway, starring Anthony Hopkins and Ray Liotta, which currently airs on Netflix.

As time moved on, Steve began performing less with larger bands, and focused more on playing acoustic cover music both as a solo artist and with his duo group, Almost Famous.  These two projects keep Steve busy playing several times per month at pubs, conventions, weddings, and other special events throughout the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and Whistler.  Steve’s solo acoustic repertoire is not defined by genre or time, ranging from rock, to pop, to country, and includes artists from Prince, to Pearl Jam, and so many more.  With his captivating and genuine performance style, Steve engages the crowd in any room and leaves them wanting more.

During the daytime, Steve can be found teaching music (guitar and School of Rock) as well as Biology at a local high school, helping to pass the love of music onto the next generation of musicians!
